According to Inspector Ram Prasad Poudel, rescue and rehabilitation of the displaced people have already begun.
"The landslides have inflicted severe losses," informed Poudel. "Schools and government buildings have been damaged. Most houses have been damaged while others have been rendered completely inhabitable," he added.
The landslides have caused damages in Dohali, Kurgha, Paudi Amarahi, Neta, Hastichaur, Siseni, Dhamir, Martung, Wagla, Musikot, Bami, Nayagaun, Jaisithokh, and Wagla, among other VDCs. Among them, Paudi Amarahi, Dhamir, Dohali and Musikot sustained major damages.
While some of the displaced are staying at temporary shelters, others have taken refuge in the houses of their relatives.
VDC secretary Prem Chandra JC said, "The government has provided landslide-hit families with Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 as relief, which is hardly enough," he added.
The displaced, however, claimed that they have received only one tarpaulin per family from the government.
"Landslides during monsoon causes troubles every year," said a local of Paudi Amarahi. "But the government is hardly making any efforts to ease our suffering," he lamented.
