‘Ko Afno’ releasing in February

KATHMANDU, Jan 21: Film ‘Ko Afno’, which is much talked about on social media for actor Reecha Sharma’s “conformity defying” look, is being released all over Nepal on February 19. The release date was shared by the film unit amidst a press meet held at Cine Dine Theater in Sundhara on Wednesday. The trailer of the film was launched during the same event.

Directed by Anil Thapa, ‘Ko Afno’ was premiered in the US on December 5 last year. It deals with the complexities in relationships brought forth by the adoption of poor couple’s child by an affluent family.

“I’ve tried to tell a unique story with an amazing set of actors,” said Director Thapa, adding that the cast and crew have put on extra hard work in the film.

Shailendra D Karki, cinematographer of the film, said, “The shooting of ‘Ko Afno’ went smoothly because everything was well planned and organized. Director Thapa has worked really hard, researching for even the smallest detail of the film.”

Actor Reecha, who won the National Award for her role in the acclaimed movie ‘Talakjung Vs Tulke’ this year, said that it isn’t just her “unglamorous look” that has helped her break the norm in the film. “I’ve worked really hard to give justice to my character. It’s also my work that defies conformity,” she said.

‘Ko Afno’ casts Reecha Sharma, Shushank Mainali, Menuka Pradhan, Rajan Khatiwada, and Shanti Giri in lead roles.
