KMC, MPC to join forces for safer Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Kathmandu Metropolitan Office (KMC) and Municipality Police Office, Ranipokhari (MPO) on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) pledging to invest combined efforts in development and management of security and physical infrastructure of Kathmandu city.



Chairperson of KMC, Rudra Singh Tamang applauded the agreement as a historical event.

"Now, Kathmandu will get a facelift within a few years. People will feel safer in the coming days," said Tamang. According to Tamang, renovation and construction of overhead bridges at the core areas of Kathmandu will be implemented without any delay.


The bridges will be constructed at Baneshwar, Maharajgunj, Koteshwar, Chabahil, Kalikot, Gaushala Chowk, Thapathali and Tripureshwar, Tamang said.


"It will take at least three years to conduct the study and construct the bridges. Preliminary works have already started," said Tamang. The KMC is also planning to install CCTVs and use digital technology to improve security situtaion in the capital.


"We intend to initiate over 30 works within a few weeks. If we work together, we will achieve all our goals," said Tamang.
