Khukuri attack at Tarun Dal convention injures four

A khukuri attack during the district convention of Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth wing of the Nepali Congress, in Lamjung left four individuals injured. The attack took place on Saturday during the inaugural session of the organization's fifth district convention at the Pragatitole Mothers' Group building in Besisahar Municipality-8.

LAMJUNG, May 18: A khukuri attack during the district convention of Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth wing of the Nepali Congress, in Lamjung left four individuals injured. The attack took place on Saturday during the inaugural session of the organization's fifth district convention at the Pragatitole Mothers' Group building in Besisahar Municipality-8.


The victims include Khusi Jung Gurung, ward chair of Besisahar Municipality-9 and regional president of Tarun Dal; Kishor Jung Basnet, a member of the Nepali Congress Lamjung district committee; Sudip Adhikari, a central member of the Nepal Student Union; and Dhan Ghale, a member of Nepal Tarun Dal, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Resham Bohora at the Lamjung District Police Office.

Authorities transported Khusi Jung and Sudip to Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur for further treatment. Police confirmed that the clash erupted after a dispute over the selection of convention representatives. The disagreement over full-time membership and delegate selection escalated into a violent confrontation, leading to the khukuri attack.
