KC promoted to Major General

General KC joined the officer cadet program of the Nepal Army and completed his training from the Royal Nepalese Military Academy, Kharipati, in 1990, after which he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Old Gorakh Battalion.

KATHMANDU, JUNE 24: The government has promoted Brigadier General Gaurav Kumar KC of the Nepal Army to Major General. A Cabinet meeting held on Monday at Baluwatar decided to promote to Major General. 
KC was transferred just a few days ago as acting division commander of the Eastern Division.His posting has also been finalized there. Until a few weeks ago, he was serving as the spokesperson of the Nepal Army.


General KC joined the officer cadet program of the Nepal Army and completed his training from the Royal Nepalese Military Academy, Kharipati, in 1990, after which he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Old Gorakh Battalion.

KC is a graduate of India’s National Defence College and has also completed various courses in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Mongolia. He holds a master’s degree in Political Science and History from Tribhuvan University and an MPhil from Madras University in India.
Major General KC also served as Military Secretary during the tenure of Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma. After that, KC served as Battalion Commander of the Old Gorakh Battalion and Instructor at the Jungle Warfare School, and later took charge as the commander of No. 3 Brigade.
