Journalist threatened with life

DHARAN, Sept 8: An unidentified person has threatened Krishna Bhattarai, a journalist with Nepal Samacharpatra, with life for writing about police atrocities on a local of Jate in Morang.



The person called him from a mobile phone (9849180576) and threatened to cut him to pieces wherever he found him, Bhattarai said.



Meanwhile, the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Sunsari, issuing a statement condemned the incident and demanded action against the guilty. Meanwhile, Press Chautari Sunsari, Nepal Press Union, Sancharika Samuha and other groups issued statements demanding security to journalists and action against the guilty.



In a report published in Nepal Samacharpatra´s Sunday edition, Bhattarai had written that Benu Prasad Dulal of Jate was tortured by Madhav Niraula, the then in-charge of the police post in Jate. Dulal has demanded compensation and filed a case against Niraula at the Morang District Court, the news read.
