Provided everything goes as planned, the ambitious project would complete in five years. Rural Transport Infrastructure Scheme of the DDC aims to blacktop 200 km of rural roads. [break]
Stating that the road project aims to blacktop all the seasonal rural roads, Local Development Officer (LDO) Jiwan Prakash Sitaula said the estimated cost of the project is Rs 1 billion. He said the government has assured them of adequate budget for the project. Last year, the government had allocated Rs 10 million for the project.
The DDC is hopeful that the project would materialize as it has been approved of by all the political parties. “Now we have agreed to utilize the budget for one single project instead of dispersing it among several projects,” informed LDO Sitaula.
The DDC has forwarded its proposal to the ministry of local development. Eight road sections including Kakadvitta-Bahundangi, Intabhatta-Ninda Siran, Birtamod-Sanischare-Khudunabari have been proposed for upgradation.
People in the district are hopeful that the project would contribute to improving the economic condition of the locals.
