Int'l poultry, livestock expo next week

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Aviana -- a Kenyan company -- is organizing 1st International Poultry and Livestock Expo at Direction Exhibition and Convention Centre from September 8-10.



The three-day even is being organized with an aim of creating market awareness regarding the latest technology in animal farming as well as creating a common platform to conduct trade between the participating countries and Nepal.[break]



Speaking at a press briefing in the capital on Monday, Indrajeet Singh, director of Aviana, said the expo is the first of its kind in Nepal and will see participation of over 22 countries from Europe, Middle East and South Asian region along with local exhibitors.



The expo will showcase poultry products, animal medicines, animal feeds as well as latest technological equipment. The event is being organized in coordination with Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Department of Livestock Services, Nepal Veterinary Chemist and Druggist Association and Nepal Feed Industries Association.



The expo will have more than 70 stalls and is expected to attract over 25,000 visitors. The organizers have invested over Rs 2.5 million for the expo.



Private sector has invested a total of Rs 22 billion in poultry and livestock business in Nepal so far and the sector employs more than 70,000 people.
