Indian national killed in car collision in Jhapa

A pedestrian of Indian nationality was killed in a car collision in Jhapa on Friday night.

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: A pedestrian of Indian nationality was killed in a car collision in Jhapa on Friday night.



According to the District Police Office (DPO), Jhapa, a red car with an unknown registration number, traveling from south to north on the inner road section from Jyamirgadhi to Dhulabari located in Mechinagar Municipality-15, hit Appu Rai, 25, and Keshav Madhiri, 20, of West Bengal, India at 9:30 pm on Friday. The duo, who are workers at Himshikhar Factory in Mechi Municipality-15, were injured. They were immediately taken to Amda Hospital in Damak for treatment.

According to DPO, Jhapa, Appu died at around 11:30 pm while undergoing treatment and Keshav Madhiri was sent to B&C Hospital, Birtamod for further treatment. DSP Krishna Kumar Chand at the DPO informed Republica that a police team jointly deployed from the Area Police Office, Dhulabari and Police Post Jyamirgadhi is searching for the car as further investigation is underway. 


“Roshan Khatri, 33, of Bagdogra, West Bengal, was taken into custody and his car number WB74AG1225 was impounded at 11:20 am on Saturday in connection to the case,” DSP Chand said.
