Increasing number of HIV infected visiting hospitals for treatment

KANCHANPUR, Mar 7: Kanchanpur, a district in far-western Nepal, has the records of a more number of HIV-infected people visiting health facilities for services these days.

KANCHANPUR, Mar 7: Kanchanpur, a district in far-western Nepal, has the records of a more number of HIV-infected people visiting health facilities for services these days. 



Unlike the past, people with HIV have started visiting medical facilities in search of treatment which can be viewed very positively. According to records available at the District Public Health Office, Kanchanpur so far 142 people have lost their lives to HIV infection in the district.

Similarly, the number of infected has reached 489, over 50 children, and 258 including 20 children are under regular medication in the Mahakali Zonal Hospital, as said by DPHO health inspector Ratan Bista. 


In the earlier days, the infected preferred to hide their identities as infected due to fear of facing social discrimination, but now the situation has changed, though not totally, and the number of male infected tops the chart, he added. RSS
