KATHMANDU, Jan. 23: The government has unveiled a three-year ´human resources strategic plan´ for the health sector.

The plan was prepared with the participation of the stakeholders and aims to ensure easy and equitable access to quality and effective health services, and also to maintain a balance between the demand for human resources and supply.

The new plan replaces the existing plan developed 20 years ago. It has proposed an additional 14,000 health personnel, which would require Rs. 420 million.

Currently, 27,700 people are working in the health service sector.

Unveiling the three-year strategic plan, Health Secretary Dr Prabin Mishra expressed the confidence that the plan would help provide quality services to the people.
