KATHMANDU, May 23: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed security agencies in the Madhesh Province to strictly curb criminal activities and smuggling along the Nepal-India border.
Inaugurating a provincial-level security seminar organized jointly by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the provincial ministry in Madhesh today, Minister Lekhak emphasized the need for heightened vigilance due to the open border between Nepal and India.

Home Minister Lekhak emphasized that security agencies, including the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, responsible for maintaining peace and security in the province must work with integrity in accordance with the country’s changing circumstances.
He said, “Serious social problems such as drug abuse, road accidents, suicides, and cybercrime are increasing in the country. Since all districts of Madhesh Province share a border with India, additional vigilance is necessary here. Security agencies must also seriously address how to prevent these issues.”
Home Minister Lekhak instructed civil servants to act with honesty and impartiality, avoiding illegal financial greed and gain, and to provide services quickly, simply, and efficiently.
