NEPALGUNJ, June 21: A little-known underground Hindu group on Monday imposed a general strike in the mid-western region, protesting non-implementation of the three-point agreement signed among the three major parties on May 28.

Transportation services, schools and shops remained closed in the region, including Nepalgunj, due to the strike of Bhishma Ekta Parishad Nepal, an underground Hindu group.

On May 28, three major parties -- UCPN-M, NC and CPN-UML, had reached an agreement to complete the remaining works related to the peace process and constitution writing, extend the term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) and create environment for formation of a national consensus government.

Except extension of the CA term, none of the points in the agreement have been implemented. The parties have blamed each other for not living up to the agreement.

Another little known group, Jana Prajatantrik Nepal Party, also supported the strike.
