Govt holds informal meeting with UDMF leaders

KATHMANDU, Dec 21: The government on Monday held an informal meeting with the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) leaders.

The meeting was held to formally inform the UDMF leaders on the government's Sunday decision.The meeting held at Foreign Ministry today discussed on narrowing down the differences and making the upcoming formal decision a decisive one.

"The government has formally informed Morcha (UDMF) on its decision," Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa's personal aide Damodar Wagle added, "UDMF has graced the development positively."

The cabinet meeting on Sunday evening endorsed the three-point agreement reached earlier among major political parties to resolve the disputes over provincial demarcations and decided to form a political mechanism.

The political mechanism was formed to address the demands put forward by the agitating UDMF parties regarding provincial demarcations.
