KATHMANDU, Oct 11: The government has decided to transfer budgets in view of the urgency of reconstructing public infrastructures in the aftermath of the Gen Z protest as well as providing relief materials and expediting economic recovery.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, shared this information during a press meet on Friday following the recent Cabinet meeting.
Infrastructure prioritized in local budgets
The budget transfer is aimed at addressing the problems created in the current situation, he added. It would be spent on holding elections to the House of Representatives and reviving the economy, he further said.
Similarly, the government has decided to form a team under the leadership of a joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance to hold dialogue with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on receiving a grant of 100 million US dollars for a project on strengthening public finance management and effectiveness of service delivery.
The government has also given the go ahead to the Nepal Electricity Authority to issue energy bonds of Rs 20 billion in a phase-wise manner for the management of resources.
Likewise, the cabinet meeting also declared Ilam district as a disaster-hit zone for three months.
