Govt can't bring full budget: BMF

KATHMANDU, July 8: The Broader Madhesi Front (BMF), an alliance of opposition Madhes-based political parties, has warned the caretaker government against bringing a full budget through ordinance.



According to Ram Naresh Raya, the chairman of Rastriya Sadbhawana Party, a two-day meeting of BMF that ended Sunday concluded that caretaker government should not be allowed to bring full-fledged budget.[break]



When asked what step would they take if the government brought full budget, he said, "If the government undermined the opposition parties then we will resort to stringent moves."



Raya maintained that all political parties should arrive at consensus on the issues of budget.



Similarly, they have urged the government to make necessary arrangements for smooth supply of chemical fertilizers saying that farmers are badly affected by the scarcity of fertilizers.



Meanwhile, Sadbhawana Party-Anandidevi has said that the caretaker government cannot bring budget through ordinance. Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the party´s chairperson Sarita Giri claimed the president´s legitimacy would end if he endorsed the budget.



Last Wednesday, main opposition parties Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN- UML had submitted to a memorandum to President Ram Baran Yadav requesting him to stop the government from bringing a full-fledged budget through ordinance.
