In the first phase, 64 engineers would visit houses of the quake victims, take pictures of the damaged houses and take down details of the house owners in their tablets. Another group comprising of 105 engineers will be sent the next week for collecting data, Gyanendra Acharya, director of data department at the District Administration Office (DAO) informed.
“The engineers were sent to field on Monday for collecting data after giving them two-days training at the district headquarters,” informed Acharya stating that data collection through the district is expected to complete within 45 days. The district has 60 VDCs and two municipalities.
The present technical team was prepared and dispatched for recording at the data of the damaged house in the early report reported more houses than the number of houses reported in the 2011 census.
Data with the District Disaster Relief Committee (DDRC) claims 60,000 houses were destroyed by the earthquake. However, number earthquake relief card holders have far exceeded these figures. Complaints at the DAO claim that more than one member of a single household have claimed the relief cards, depriving true victims of aid.
“We are very hopeful that the present team of engineers will record accurate data and assist in providing relief to true quake victims,” said Chief District Officer Bal Dev Gautam.
