The visit of Gachchhadar comes after the two-day Home Secretary level talks between Nepal and India ends on Tuesday. An 11-member delegation led by Home Secretary Sushil SJB Rana is currently in New Delhi to hold negotiation on various issues with their Indian counterparts.

The talks between the Home secretaries of the two countries focused primarily on ways to strengthen the mechanism to combat the networks dealing with fake Indian currency. Nepal registered fake Indian currency amounting to IRS 4 crores in the year 2011 alone.

The two sides have also agreed to share information on activities related to terrorism and smuggling of drugs and cooperate in police training, according to sources familiar with the development.

Sources said though the Indian side is learnt to have raised the issue of signing the new Extradition Treaty, Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty and border strip maps, Nepali side did not discuss much on those issues citing the need of broader political understanding back home.
