A police squad under the command of inspector Awadhesh Bista arrested Gurung, who had been on the run for the last two years, from near Pashupatinagar in Ilam on Tuesday night, according to Lalitpur police chief SSP Rajendra Man Shrestha. [break]
Handcuffed, Gurung was brought to Bhadrapur via roadway and was then brought to the capital via airway. He was in hiding at his relatives’ in Sikkim, India for a long time.
While in Sikkim, he had been threatening to launch armed revolt during interviews with local Nepali TV channels. Police made him public amid a press conference at the Metropolitan Police Office, Lalitpur this afternoon.
Apart from Gurung, ULI’s Managing Director Bishnu Bahadur Chhetri, Finance Directors Krishna Bahadur Chhetri and Mahendra KC are also on police’s most wanted list.
Two years ago, the home ministry had directed police to arrest them for running the networking business illegally and swindling money from its members.
