Prakash scored an important goal for the team when Nepal was down by 0-1 against India in the final. His goal in the 61st minute from free-kick helped Nepal level the match before Nawayug Shrestha sealed the victory for Nepal in the 70th Minute on February 15 as Nepali football team claimed the SAG gold medal after 23 years.Villagers and family members, who were eagerly waiting for his arrival, welcomed him on Sunday and a celebration was held in the village.
"I am delighted with the felicitation received in my own village as I started playing football from the same place," said Prakash. His village lies in Dharan sub-metropolitan city and is 4 kilometer west from Dharan.
Prakash, the only son of former army serviceman Kamal Budhathoki and Sushila Budhathoki has also made his family members elated with the achievement.
"Our happiness knows no bounds as we have been showered with congratulations for our son's performance in SAG," his mother Sushila said.
Locals, schools and sports clubs also took out a procession in the village on Sunday.
