LAMJUNG, Nov 12: Five people have died as a jeep veered off the road and fell some 200 meters down near Belauti Bisauna in Besisahar Municipality-13 on early Thursday.
Two people have been critically injured.
Jeep accident claims driver’s life in Lamjung
The incident took place at 3 am as a Bolero jeep heading to Lamjung from Manang district met with an accident.
The deceased in the incident have been identified as Kushi Ram Ale of Kawasoti in Nawalparasi, Mosa Tamang and Bharat Thapa of Besisahar Chanaute, Nanda Bahadur Gurung of Khudi-9, Arkhale and Basanta Shrestha of Besisahar-13, Chanaute, said DSP Shambhu Prasad Dhakal. The deceased have been taken to Lamjung Community Hospital for postmortem, said Dhakal.
Critically injured are Hira Ghale of Besisahar-13, Chanaute and Akal Bahadur Tamang of Sertung-1 Dhading. The jeep fell around 200 meters down in the paddy filed near the Marsyandi River.
Seven people were traveling in the ill-fated jeep. The identity of the driver is yet to be ascertained, said police. The injured have been referred to Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara after preliminary treatment at Community Hospital, Lamjung.
The cause behind the incident is not known yet.
