Kavre, April 27: Kathmandu University (KU) concluded its first Running Shield sports competition on Friday. Players from the university's seven faculties and various affiliated campuses participated in the event. The competition featured cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, sprint, high jump, long jump, shot put, badminton, table tennis, chess, and more.
The School of Medical Sciences won this year’s Running Shield by securing the highest number of gold medals. The faculty claimed gold in the women's 100-meter sprint, men's 100-meter sprint, men's 200-meter sprint, men's high jump, women's high jump, men's long jump, women's table tennis, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, women's cricket, and men's cricket.
The School of Law took second place by winning 8 gold medals. The faculty claimed gold in the women's 200-meter sprint, women's 400-meter sprint, women's 5000-meter sprint, women's 800-meter sprint, women's badminton, women's chess, men's chess, and women's football.

The School of Management secured third place with 4 gold medals. The faculty won gold in the men's 800-meter sprint, women's shot put, men's table tennis, and men's basketball.
The School of Science won 2 gold medals, Manipal College earned 2, the School of Engineering secured 1, the School of Arts gained 1, and Birat Medical College claimed 1 gold medal.
Around two thousand players participated in the competition.
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Tejulal Chaudhary, the Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Achyut Wagle, and officials from various faculties presented medals and certificates to the winners. The university's Student Welfare Council organized the competition.
