Everest marathoner and cyclist arrested over theft

KATHMANDU, May 27: Failing to receive sponsorship to participate in cycle race scheduled in Thailand for 2016, an Everest marathoner and cyclist stole a bicycle from a local shop at Thamel.

Nawang Dawa Sherpa, 19, of Tapting VDC, Solukhumbhu was arrested by Kavre Police over bicycle theft. He was on his way to home from Kathmandu after stealing a bicycle and its parts from Pedal Sports Cycle shop at Thamel. He used to work in the shop.

The stolen bicycle and parts worth Rs 750,000.Sherpa had participated in the Everest Marathon for three times and won second position once. He was also the winner of the Lamatar Cycle Race and the Yakru Cycle Race last year.
