Issuing a statement, on Wednesday, EU EOM Chief Eva Joly said, “We encourage all actors in the upcoming polls as well as the citizens to join their efforts for the elections to be conducted in a genuine, transparent and credible manner.” [break]
The EU EOM is making preparation to deploy over 100 observers from 26 member states as well as Norway and Switzerland to observe the election process slated or November 19.
Eight international election analysts of the EU EOM arrived in Nepal on October 4. These analysts, followed by 34 long-term observers, will be deployed throughout the country on October 17, EU EOM said in the statement.
Likewise, 40 short-term observers, along with a delegation of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), will join the mission in the run up to the elections.
The EU EOM is mandated to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the entire electoral process in relation to the laws of the country and international commitments agreed upon by Nepal.
