Entrepreneurs defied the banda and chased away the enforcers led by Raj Kumar Yadav, chairman of United Socialist Forum (USF) from Traffic Chowk to Jaljala, informed the District Police Office (DPO), Morang. Entrepreneurs of those areas have complained of their dwindling business because of the prolonged banda.
The DPO has arrested USF Chairman Yadav, UDMF district Chairman Mohammad Kadir and UDMF leader Kanahaiya Shah who were holding a meeting after obstructing roads at the Mahabir Chowk.
Following the arrests, cadres of those parties have been organizing protests in various places of Biratnagar. The irate protestors set ablaze two motorcycles on the way to Jatuwa and Buddhanagar.
"The motorcycles are completely burnt and we are not able to ascertain their number plates," said DSP Promod Kharel, spokesperson of Morang DPO. Meanwhile, an unidentified group has set ablaze a truck holding Indian number plate in Shiva Mandir Chowk of Biratnagar-8 on Tuesday night around 10 pm. The truck (MH 18 AA 7311) was laden with cement and had travelled from Rani border point.
The driver had parked the truck on the road and was preparing to cook dinner with his assistant when the unidentified group came and set ablaze the truck. The group fled immediately after setting the truck on fire.
