KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has emphasized that the House of Representatives (HoR) polls must be held on March 5.
Speaking at a meeting on Friday with local party leaders in Sundar Haraicha Municipality-4, Morang Constituency 6, Dr Koirala said that the party is eager to contest the polls, calling the election the foundation of democracy. “Only an election can save the constitution and protect the country from regression,” he said. “We are waiting for the election date, but observing the government’s preparedness, doubts have arisen about whether the polls will actually take place.”

Dr Koirala criticized the government for failing to create a conducive environment for elections. “Some party leaders have not been allowed to travel outside Kathmandu, looted weapons remain unaccounted for, and prisoners are still at large. What is the government thinking about this?” he questioned.
Dr Koirala also urged party members to mobilize in preparation for the upcoming election.
