Elderly man killed in wild elephant attack

Bhattarai had gone to the Haldibari Community Forest where he was attacked and killed by the elephant. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Provincial Hospital, Bhadrapur, for a post-mortem.

JHAPA, Feb 28: An elderly man died after being attacked by a wild elephant on Thursday. 


The deceased has been identified as 76-year-old Bhim Prasad Bhattarai of Haldibari Rural Municipality-4, said Megh Raj Rai, Chief of the Division Forest Office, Jhapa.

Bhattarai had gone to the Haldibari Community Forest where he was attacked and killed by the elephant. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Provincial Hospital, Bhadrapur, for a post-mortem.


Meanwhile, two people died in motorcycle accidents in different places of Jhapa on Thursday.


The deceased have been identified as Suraj Rajbanshi, 17, of Shivasatakshi Municipality-4 and Govinda Rajbanshi, 19, of Kachankawal Rural Municipality-3, according to the police.


Amit Raja,18, who was riding the same motorcycle, was injured in the accident. He is undergoing treatment at B&C Hospital, police said.
