Now through Eka Deshma, a film festival to be held on October 6 and 7, we can celebrate stories and filmmaking.
The film festival which has the theme of “2012: Year of Uprising Short Films” is to be held at the Nepal Tourism Board in Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu. [break]
Audiences can watch 20 short films out which 10 are Nepali and the rest international. Film directors, actors, sound designers and editors will be present to discuss and exchange ideas and experiences.

“We’ll be showing films by aspiring filmmakers. The festival is divided into three parts: Heerako Mala, Soonko Mala and Phoolko Mala. Heerako Mala will take place on the first day and we have interaction and discussions on filmmaking. On October 7, we have Soonko Mala and Phoolko Mala where we’ll screen the short films.
For Soonko Mala, we’ll screen films from the Manhattan Short Film Festival, and during Phoolko Mala, the audience can watch films by Nepali filmmakers,” informed Anup Poudel, Creative Director of Underground Talkies Nepal.
He further stated that around six artists will be depicting the meaning of each Nepali film in their paintings. The paintings will also be put on display at the festival.
Priced at Rs 25 each for the audience, the festival is worth attending. Students can watch the films for less, at Rs 10.
