Eight people die in fire incidents in one month

The NDRRMA has reported eight deaths in fire incidents over the past month, urging all levels of government and partner agencies to strengthen coordination and public awareness as fire risks rise during the dry season.

KATHMANDU, Dec 12: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has reported that eight people lost their lives and 55 others were injured in fire-related incidents across the country over the past month.



Warning that fire cases sharply rise during the dry season, the Authority urged all three tiers of government to strengthen coordination and preparedness to minimize further loss.

In a notice issued today, the NDRRMA also called on UN agencies, NGOs, development partners, the private sector, civil society, and the media to support fire prevention, response, and recovery efforts.


NDRRMA spokesperson Shanti Mahat appealed to the public to remain alert and contribute to safeguarding communities from fire-related disasters.
