KATHMANDU, April 16: The Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies has taken action against two business companies.
Kumar Prasad Dahal, the DoCSCP’s Director General, announced that the department took action against Pashupati International Business Pvt. Ltd., based in Lalitpur, and Pashupati Trading Concern in Kathmandu, both operating as dealers in the Valley, for violating the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS.

He explained that the DoCSCP ordered Pashupati International Business Pvt. Ltd. to stop the sale and distribution of gutkha and khaini, and instructed a nationwide suspension of its operations due to discrepancies in the weight of its products.
The DoCSCP also issued a notice requiring both companies to appear with the necessary documents within three days.
The government has made it mandatory for all products sold in the market to display the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). The DoCSCP has begun taking action against sellers who fail to display the MRP.
