Koirala claimed that the political parties within the Constituent Assembly have already agreed to issue new constitution through consensus and the constitution will be drafted soon. He also claimed that the differences between political parties ar narrowing down and the constitution drafting process is heading toward consensus.
PM Koirala, who reached Taksera, Rukum on Tuesday to inaugurate Janajati Art and Cultural Festival, said that the new constitution would be full of democratic features. "If you have any doubt or confusion that the country would not get new constitution, just remove such things from your mind. I promise the country will get new constitution within 2072 BS," said Koirala.
"The government has been flexible toward the demands of the opposition parties. Talks are going on and I am confident that the issues will be resolved," said the PM.
PM Koirala also said that the opposition alliance should not take to the streets since the ruling parties are always in favor of drafting constitution through consensus. He also urged the opposition to maintain flexibility.
"None of the political parties should hold the country hostage under the pretext of protests. This is time to draft constitution and take forward the country toward prosperity," said Koirala.
He argued that the country would not move on the path of prosperity unless a democratic constitution is drafted on time. "The new year should be an era of development and constitution should be drafted on time to achieve this goal," said the PM.
