KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has commented that development and corruption are antonymous with each other.
Speaking at a program held in Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-1, Kaski on Saturday, Minister Gurung claimed that corruption and development cannot co-exist.

“Good governance cannot exist in the presence of corruption. Where there is corruption, development construction is less,” Minister Gurung said, “Where there is less development construction, corruption is rampant.” However, he said that the current government is running a campaign to eliminate corruption and establish good governance.
Minister Gurung said that action will be taken against those found guilty based on the report prepared by the High-Level Parliamentary Cooperative Investigation Committee.
He said that laws that conflict with and hinder cooperative development will also be amended, and clarified that an ordinance is currently being brought for that purpose.
