"Adityanath did not visit the embassy; our ambassador met him"
KATHMANDU, April 12: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday retracted his previous statement about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Deuba clarified that the remarks he recently made at an event in Kathmandu on Saturday was based on incorrect information.
"I spoke based on incorrect information about the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh the other day. To clarify, he did not visit the Indian Embassy; it was our Ambassador to India who visited him," Deuba said.

President Deuba confirmed the accuracy of Adityanath's statement: "We are not in favor of the monarchy in Nepal; this is baseless gossip. Even if my photo is published, that's not the case." Deuba further clarified, "He did not visit the embassy. I want to retract that as well."
A few days ago, during an event attended by Indian leaders, Deuba had discussed India's role in the royalist movement, asserting that India supports Nepal's republic. When royalists displayed a photo of Adityanath at the rally, President Deuba had mentioned that Adityanath himself had visited the embassy to deny those claims.
"We have an embassy in India and Adityanath Ji went there to deny the false claims, stating that he has no involvement in Nepal. The Nepali people will decide what they want. He clearly said that they are not in favor of bringing back the monarchy. This made us realize that India supports Nepal, the republic, and democracy. They are not against it," Deuba said.
Deuba retracted his earlier statement on Saturday, confirming the same fact. He mentioned that on March 9, during a rally held to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah, royalists had displayed a photo of Yogi Adityanath. Following this, Nepal's Ambassador to India, Shankar Sharma, met with Yogi Adityanath, according to sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Delhi.
During the meeting, Adityanath told Ambassador Sharma that he had no connection to the royalist movement and held no position on the issue.
