KATHMANDU, Jan 21: The newly elected member of the Provincial Assembly of Province 4, Rajiv Gurung alias Deepak Manange has missed swearing-in ceremony held on Sunday at Pardi, Pokhara.
The Supreme Court has upheld a five-year jail sentence handed down to Manange. Patan Appellate Court had convicted Manange in 2007 in a murder case of Milan Chakre.

Manange will not only be arrested and put behind bars for the next five years; he will also be suspended from the post of provincial lawmaker.
Due to flight delay, Ram Bahadur Gurung also missed the swearing-in ceremony. Gurung was elected from Tanahau 2 ‘B’.
Province-4 Chief Baburam Kunwar administered oath to senior-most member Janaklal Shrestha. Senior-most member Shrestha also administer oath of office and secrecy to other members of Province Assembly.
