KATHMANDU, Nov 13: Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Kulman Ghising has said that the process of collecting outstanding premium charges from dedicated and trunk line users — an issue that has long stirred political and public debate — has entered a new phase.

Taking to social media on Thursday, Minister Ghising stated that most industries using electricity through dedicated and trunk line structures during the load-shedding era have paid the first installment of the outstanding premium charges.

“The issue had become a matter of national concern after repeated legal efforts by the authority were obstructed by political interference,” Ghising said, adding that certain individuals in responsible positions had made deliberate attempts to undermine the government’s effort to recover the dues.

He further claimed that, with continuous public attention, monitoring, and vigilance, the collection process has now begun to show tangible progress.
