KATHMANDU, July 18: Meteorologists have predicted a decline in rainfall from Wednesday as the low-pressure line of the Monsoon moves southwards from its average position.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, along with the Meteorological Forecasting Division, reports that the low-pressure line is currently located slightly west of the average location and towards the south in the eastern region, indicating a likelihood of reduced rain in the Terai-Madhesh area.

Meteorologist Binu Maharjan explains that the shift of the low-pressure line towards the south has led to a decrease in water content, resulting in light and moderate rains in the western regions. Based on this shift, it is anticipated that there will be less rainfall starting from tomorrow.

Adding to the meteorologists' insights, Binod Pokharel notes that clouds moving from Tibet to Nepal have contributed to increased rainfall in the central hills but less rain in the Terai. Via Twitter, he predicts light rain in the Terai region for the next few days.

This weather pattern indicates a significant change across the country. Maharjan confirms that some regions in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces have already experienced light rain.

In a related update, the Flood Forecasting Division's regular bulletin warns of possible rises in water levels in several rivers flowing through districts such as Doti, Dadeldhura, Acham, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Rukum East, Rukum West, Rolpa, Dailekh, Kalikot, Bajura, Bajhang, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Baitadi, and Darchula.
