Daily turnover surges two months’ high at Rs 12.51 billion as transaction of Ngadi Group Power stands at Rs 1.08 billion

Daily turnover at Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rose to two-month high at Rs 12.51 billion on Thursday despite the market index going down by 9.08 points.

KATHMANDU, June 12: Daily turnover at Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rose to two-month high at Rs 12.51 billion on Thursday despite the market index going down by 9.08 points. 


The secondary market opened at 2,664.47 points, following a series of fluctuations before it hit the day’s high at 2,672.43 points within the first one hour. The index however went downhill and reached as low as 2,656.38 points in the last 25 minutes of trading time. The market struggled to bounce back in the remaining period, while it fell further one point before it closed for the day.

Four groups succeeded to gain, while hotels and tourism inclined up by a whopping 144.88 points. Out of the nine losers, life insurance shed 65.95 points, the largest of all.


The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined 1.99 points. The daily turnover amount jumped by additional Rs 2.61 billion from Rs 9.90 billion on Wednesday.


Among the individual companies, 99 were gainers while 149 were the losers. Ngadi Group Power had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 1.081 billion.


Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited with a decline of 9.90 percentage points was recorded as the topmost loser. Pure Energy Limited gained the highest of 9.99 percent of its market value.
