KATHMANDU, April 28: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case at the Special Court, accusing the then Secretary, Director, and others of corruption in procuring health equipment for the Provincial Public Health Laboratory under the Ministry of Social Development of Madhesh Province.
The CIAA has demanded the recovery of Rs 218.94 million from the then Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development of Madhesh Province Ima Narayan Shrestha, Accounts Officer Nabin Das, and the then Senior Health Administrator Muktinarayan Sah.
The CIAA has claimed Rs 218.94 million from the then Director of the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Janakpur, Dr Shrawan Kumar Mishra, Senior Lab Technician Gunananda Prasad Sah, Technologist Manmohan Mishra, and Lab Technologist Ram Udgar Sah.

The CIAA has also demanded the same amount, Rs 218.94 from Microbiologist Jitendra Kumar Sah, Amarendra Kumar Mishra, Medical Lab Technologist Dipendra Kumar Mishra, Lab Assistant Ramesh Kumar Mandal, Karmashil Prasad Gop, Umesh Chaudhary, and Accounts Officer Amardip Mahato.
Rajendra Kumar Paudel, the CIAA's spokesperson, said that the CIAA has demanded a recovery of Rs 218.94 million from Bishal Pandit, the operator of the supplier company Hospitec Enterprises.
In the same case, the CIAA has filed four separate cases. The CIAA demands a recovery of Rs 194.61 million from the then Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development of Madhesh Province, Ima Narayan Shrestha, Vishal Pandit, the operator of Hospitec Enterprises, and 15 others, as well as from Hospitec Pvt. Ltd.
The CIAA has also filed a case to recover Rs 50,190 million due to corruption in the procurement of equipment for constructing public health laboratories in 64 local levels of Madhesh Province.
