Constable Nok Bahadur Khatri had murdered Narendra Giri, 18, by decapitating him with a knife on February 22 after abducting him. Police said Giri was abducted from Yagyasthal near his home in Sanoshri-5. [break]
SP Surya Prasad Upadhyaya said preliminary investigations showed that the killing was carried out due to old animosity. Police said 11th grader Giri had allegedly teased Khatri´s sister a couple of months ago and even manhandled Khatri in a scuffle over the issue.
Both Giri, son of assistant sub inspector Udhal, and Khatri are from the same village and Khatri exacted revenge while back home on holidays. Police have arrested Khatri and Krishna Bahadur Dangi, a local, for investigations. Inspector Basudev Khatiwada said Khatri was arrested with the help of his father Padam Bahadur.
Giri was killed on the day of abduction inside Shiva Durga Community Forest that is just 400 meters northeast of the place of abduction. His decapitated body was found three days later.
The whole village has been in mourning since the murder and Giri´s mother Bimala still loses consciousness sporadically.
