Commerce dept intensify market monitoring

KATHMANDU, Nov. 4: The Department of Commerce and Supplies has said market monitoring would be further intensified in the days ahead.



The officials at the Department said it has observed positive results of monitoring.



Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has also given directive to the Department to effectively continue the market monitoring and take actions to those not abiding by the laws.



Director General at the Department Narayan Prasad Bidari said officials would continue the monitoring, as positive responses were poured in from the people´s level though the officials were not well-equipped.



Bidari said a total of 147 commercial firms were monitored across the country during the festive season.



He added that monitoring would be made further effective in sugar, rice, pulse, oil and other daily essentials by taking into account approaching Tihar festival.



According to him, private firms were directed to correct their mistakes while registration of some firms were revoked and charged for not abiding by the directive.
