Classic in semifinals

KATHMANDU, June 21: Classic College entered the semifinals of the Fourth Wai Wai Vice Chancellor Cup T20 Cricket Tournament on Monday.



Classic defeated Triton International College by four wickets at the TU Cricket Ground and booked the semifinal berth from Group D. [break]



Batting first, Triton put up 108 runs in allotted 20 overs losing nine wickets. Indra Kamal Manandhar topscored for the side with 27 runs while Pushpa Thapa added 19 runs on the board. Sagar Pun scored 13 runs while Manjeet Shrestha struck 12 runs.



Basanta Regmi took three wickets while Rahul BK claimed two.



Classic met the target in 18 overs losing six wickets. Man-of-the-match Naresh Budhaayer topscored for the winning side with 65 runs while Santosh Bhatta remained unbeaten on 13 runs.



Ritesh Singh claimed two wickets for Classic.



Meanwhile, CCRC beat NASA International College by 17 runs. CCRC, electing to bat first, put up 147 runs in 20 overs losing eight wickets. Gyanendra Malla topscored for the side with 29 runs. Subash Pradhan struck 28 runs while Anil Mandal added 23 runs and Mehboob Alam scored 17 runs.



Shakti Gauchan, Subhendu Pandey and Ujjwal Thapa took two wickets each for NASA.



NASA, in reply, were all out for 130 runs in the 20th over. Man-of-the-match Shakti Gauchan scored 48 runs and Rupesh Sharma struck 42 runs off 28 balls but could not avoid the defeat.



Sanjam Regmi and Santosh Baral took two wickets each for the winning side.
