People holding public posts are supposed to make public their property details at the start of each fiscal year. As those teachers in the district failed to do so, they will be fined Rs 5,000 each, according to the District Education Office (DEO), Udayapur."Many of those who have not furnished their property details are headmasters and politicians-cum-teachers," informed Information Officer Bhupendra Koirala.
"Among those failing to furnish their property details, 333 teachers are from High School level while 39 teachers are from Lower Secondary School level," he added.
Amendra Jha, chairman of Teachers' Union of Nepal is among those liable for action. Jha is also the principal of Jyoti Higher Secondary School in Beltar and central committee member of Nepal Teachers' Association affiliated to the Nepali Congress. Likewise, Tanka Prasad Guragain, former chairman of CPN-UML affiliated Nepal National Teacher's Association, Punya Bahadur Karki of CPN-Maoist, Indra Kumar Raut, chairman of Teachers' Union affiliated with Federal Socialist Forum, among others have been named in the CIAA's list, according to the DEO.
However, some teachers who have already retired or passed away have also been enlisted for action, said some teachers. The DEO clarified that further action would be taken if they fail to pay their fines on time.
