The child´s family has refused to speak anything about the abduction. The kidnappers have demanded INRs 3 million ransom and threatened the family not to inform the police about the kidnapping, a family source said. Ghale´s grandmother, mother and sister are grief-stricken, while his father is abroad for foreign employment.Police have also kept the case confidential saying it would hamper their investigation and search operation. According to a police source, the kidnappers have asked the family to send them IRs 50,000 through Western Union Money Transfer.
Police suspect the child could have been taken to and kept in Siliguri of India. Police had sealed the border and raided Kakarbhitta immediately after being informed about the kidnapping but failed to find the child, the source said.
Family sources say the kidnappers are Pramod Rai, Rikesh Rai and Shani Gurung from Darjeeling. The three had been frequenting the restaurant and become close with the child´s family about a month ago.
The three also used to take the child out with them at times. On Sunday, too, they had taken the child with them. When they didn´t return even for long, the family suspected the child could have been kidnapped, said the family source.
