KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Youth Corner Club is set to hold Kathmandu District-wide Open Chess Tournament in Lagan, Kathmandu from Friday to mark its 40th anniversary. The five day event will have nine rounds.
Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Sunday, the host informed that players from Kathmandu will be allowed to participate in the tournament individually, while players from other parts of the country living in Kathmandu will have to register themselves through clubs.
Asian Zonal chess championship from March 18
Club's president Niranjan Bhattarai informed that the tournament will be supported by Nepal Chess Association and Kathmandu Chess Association. The KCA will provide all the technical support for the tournament.
The winner, runner-up and third place finishers will get Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively, while players from fourth position to 10th position will each get Rs 1,000.
