The contest is part of 'Smart Jeewan' campaign run by National Health Education Information Communication Center in coordination with Family Health Division with support of the USAID Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) Nepal project.The organizers are aiming to promote awareness about the importance of family planning through this fun contest. Moon Pradhan, the Media Outreach Communication Specialist at HC3 Nepal Project, stated, "We want to encourage couples to think seriously about family planning. In our country, most people get married at a young age and enter into parenthood early on."
Participants do not have to be married to enter this contest which will run for two months. Six couples stand the chance to win exciting prizes. Winners will be announced through a lucky draw on the eve of Nepali New Year in mid April. After uploading their picture, the participants will receive a unique code which will be used in the lucky draw.
Three couples will win the first prize consisting of a Spice Android One Dream Uno mobile while two couples will win the Everest Bank EBL visa Debit Card with Rs 10,000 as the second prize. The two nights and three days stay in Hotel Barahi Pokhara will go to a couple who wins third place. Other prizes include dinner for a couple at Tamarind restaurant/Embassy restaurant/ Bajeko Sekuwa, a 90 minutes worth of couple spa at Chaitanya Spa, a gift hamper by Johnson and Johnson, etc.
