As per the ninth amendment of the CA calendar of events, the Constitutional Committee (CC) should have prepared the first integrated draft of the new constitution by Friday, but the CC missed the deadline as the full house could not finalize the preliminary draft reports and concept papers prepared by the 11 thematic committees owing to differences between the political parties. It is the ninth time that the CA has missed the deadline.
“As the deadline has not been met, the CA meeting on Tuesday will decide the next move,” said CA spokesperson Mukunda Sharma.
On Thursday, the CC got the report of the committee formed to determine the structure of the constitutional bodies, the second report after that of the committee on distribution of natural resources, financial rights and public revenue sharing.
CC Chairman Nilambar Acharya said his committee can seriously work on the preparation of the first integrated draft of the constitution only after receiving all the reports from the CA full house. “It will take us at least four weeks to prepare the first integrated draft after we receive all the 11 thematic committees´ reports,” Acharya said.
