Buses, bike looted on Rapti Highway in Dang

DANG, Sept 26: Some passengers traveling on a bus and a motorcycle were robbed by a gang of six robbers on Rapti Highway Tulsipur in Dang district Friday night.



According to police, the robbers escaped with approximately 10 lakh rupees.



A bus with registration plate Na 2 Kha 7912 and a motorcycle - Bhe2 Pa 3363 both traveling from Nepalgunj to Dang and another bus - Na 3 Kha 800 - going to Nepalgunj from Dang were waylaid at Amelia.



According to diver of the bus going to Nepalgunj, Anil Gautam most passengers were returning from India to celebrate Dashain. The armed gang also took away keys of the buses, forcing passengers and bus staff to spend the night on the highway.



The police only knew about the crime on Saturday morning. District Police Office, Dang said they have provided security at different points on the highway.



Looting of passengers returning home during Dashain is not uncommon in the country.
