Minister Mandal, speaking during a program organized by National Sports Council (NSC) at its premises to welcome him, said that sports activities, including Seventh National Games, will not be affected due to lack of budget.The preparation for the Seventh National Games, scheduled for November 27 to December 4, has been affected as budget allocation was delayed by the government following the delay in the appointment of finance minister.
"I have spoken to Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel regarding the budget and he said the budget will be allocated within a few days. I will also discuss the issue with the prime minister," said Minister Mandal, who is also the chairman of NSC.
Meanwhile, NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, confirming that the National Games will be held on scheduled time, informed that that the sports' governing body in the country could organize the games from December 26.
"The final decision will be taken during NSC's board meeting," said Bista, who informed that NSC board meeting will be held soon after Tihar Festival.
MoYS Secretary Sharma to help Minister Mandal understand sports
Dipendra Nath Sharma, secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, said that he will give lessons on sports to the newly appointed Minister for Youth and Sports Satya Narayan Mandal. Speaking during the welcome program, Sharma said that he will brief about Nepali sports to Minister Mandal and will give him lessons on the same topic using projector. Meanwhile, Minister Mandal acknowledged that he was not aware about Nepali sports and that he was willing to learn about sports with experts.
