Speaking at the Special Hour of the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament on Friday, Dr Mahat said that Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari should take the moral responsibility of this.[break]
He also raised a question on the prime minister´s resignation issue. "Why Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal is hesitating to resign in line with the May-28 agreement", he wondered.
Various other political leaders also expressed their views on the contemporary issues including the new budget during the special hour.
CPN-UML Chief Whip Bhim Prasad Acharya said the budget for the current fiscal year could not be presented in the scheduled date due to political reasons. However, the budget was not leaked before its formal announcement, he said.
He urged all the parties to adopt maximum flexibility to conclude the peace process and the constitution writing on time. The Universities should not be used as the place for practicing politics, added Acharya.
UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Bhim Prasad Gautam drew attention of the government, saying that the incessant rainfall and soil erosion in different parts of the country lately caused human casualties and loss of large amount of property.
Gautam stressed for the consensus among the political parties over the issue of peace and constitution writing process.
Bhupendra Chaudhary of the Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Democratic) said the situation of law and order was deteriorating day by day and the cases of murders were increasing in the Tarai and asked to form the parliamentary probe committee in this regard.
Likewise, lawmaker of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party, Hridayesh Tripathi, questioned why prime minister’s commitment to peace and constitution writing process did not come true though the pm said the two tasks were his main focus.
Lawmaker of Rastriya Janamorcha, Chitra Bahadur KC, demanded the government take initiative to release the Nepalis languishing in Indian prison house.
The other speaking lawmakers in Friday’s House meeting were Chandra Bahadur Gurung of RPP-Nepal, Sunil Prajapati of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and Raj Kishor Yadav of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Republic).
