All the preparations for the celebration of Buddha Jayanti have been completed, said Trust Member-Secretary Rajendra Thapa Magar. The celebration starts at 11.00am on Sunday.[break]
Sri Lankan Speaker Chamala Rajapakchha will feature as the chief guest of the main function. The chief guest had landed in Lumbini yesterday to attend the function, informed Trust Treasurer Om Prakash Aryal.
The program schedule is it that chief guest including others will offer worship to the Mayadevi Temple, participate in Buddha rally and take part in main function at 11.00 am today.
Likewise, the Trust is set to provide scholarship to poor and genuine girl students of schools in and around Buddha´s birthplace, Tilaurakot of Kapilvastu and Ramgram of Nawalparasi amid the main function today as in every year in the past.
The Trust is to present scholarship worth Rs. 5,000 each to 21 students belonging to Lumbini surrounding, five from Kapilvastu and four from Nawalparasi, Aryal further informed.
Similarly, a free health camp was organized in Lumbini on the occasion of the Buddha Jayanti on Saturday.
As many as 500 people received free of cost treatment and medicines at the camp jointly organized by the Lumbini Visit Year 2012, Pokhara Sub-committee and Dharmodaya Sewa Sabha, Kaski Chapter.
A team of health workers comprising Dr. Buddhi Bahadur Thapa, Dr. Basanta Tamrakar, Dr. Puran Bajracharya and Dr. Raju Shakya from Pokhara, Palpa and Lumbini provided health treatment service to the needy on the occasion.
